Asking how much a piece of artwork is, as one cartoonist put it, "like asking how long a string is.  It depends on the string." This means - it depends on your usage of the work you contract for.

Artwork adds VALUE to your product, service, business, etc.  Therefore, you are paying for the LICENSING to use the artwork you are commissioning.

For more information, go to U.S. Copyright FAQs

“Cartoons look as though they are easy to create because they are relatively simple in style, but in fact creating cartoons is a highly demanding specialization that usually requires a long apprenticeship.” – Graphic Artists Guild

The Options

  1. Licensing. Contact me to discuss your project and usage.  Depending on how you want to use your illustration, the price will vary according to usage (value added.)  You can learn more by visiting the Graphic Artist's Guild website - all pricing is according to the Graphic Artist Guild's Handbook on Pricing and Ethics Guidelines

  2. Work for Hire.  (Unlimited use, you own it, lock-stock-barrel and can use it for whatever you want.) The right to display the work in my portfolio is maintained. (online displays have watermarks to prevent copying.) Plan to pay a minimum of 10x the cost of a limited use piece of artwork.

  3. Stippling Prints and Limited Editions.  Signed by the artist purchased directly and shipped to you.
